Carlotha Ray Awarded at the Fragrance Foundation Awards for Responsible Innovation

We are proud to announce that the fragrance Myrrhe & Bois Brûlés by Carlotha Ray has received the prestigious Responsible Innovation Award in the “Espoir de la Parfumerie” category at the Fragrance Foundation France Awards 2024. This important recognition celebrates the brand’s pioneering work in combining olfactory creativity with a strong commitment to a more sustainable approach to perfumery.

A brand within the HIMCO group, Carlotha Ray was founded in 2019 by Mariela Schwarz Montiel in tribute to her grandmother, Carlotha Despierre de Montiel—a prominent figure in reforestation efforts and environmental education in Paraguay. This spirit of social and environmental responsibility continues to be the driving force behind the brand’s philosophy.

“Myrrhe & Bois Brûlés” perfectly embodies this vision. It features carefully selected raw materials known for their quality and traceability, including Comorian ylang-ylang and Somali myrrh resinoid, both part of Givaudan’s OrPur® collection. Over a quarter of the formula consists of upcycled ingredients, minimizing resource waste. The bottle design reflects the brand’s values as well: made from lightweight, recycled glass with no decorative elements that would hinder recycling, and topped with a cap crafted from wood and cork—entirely plastic-free—developed in collaboration with Pujolasos. The packaging is produced mainly in France, with responsibly sourced materials from across Europe, ensuring a locally focused and sustainable supply chain.

Receiving this award is a great honor and a meaningful acknowledgment of the value of a perfumery approach that looks to the future with awareness, innovation, and deep respect for the environment.
